Karen Sue Kennamer was born May 24, 1961 in Longview Texas to parents Gerald W. Kennamer and Mary Louise Rogers. She attended school primarily in Fort Worth along with sisters Terina and Kristy and brother Kelly Kennamer. She worked in Fort Worth and Reno Nevada until 1990 when she received her kidney-pancreas transplant. She married Fred Moreland Scott on November 13, 1993 in Austin.
